I am an interdisciplinary artist whose work addresses the ontology of boundaries and liminal spaces through presence/absence phenomena. I move between writing (literary, theory and translation) and visual practices to grapple with power relationships embedded in corporealities, language, and geography. I work in and through these disciplines to explore our daily relationship to the ways in which power mutates and culturally limits the individual, and through the individual, the collective. My process of making work focuses on using intimate gestures to infiltrate and expose larger circuits of information by breaking them down, using poetic space and heterotopias to reconstitute them in everyday dynamics.
My work has been exhibited throughout the United States and Mexico at spaces including El Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil, El Museo Nacional de La Ciudad de México, El Museo Metropolitano de Monterrey, El Centro Cultural Tijuana (CECUT), Estación Tijuana, the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles Contemporary Projects (LACE), LAXART, Intersection for the Arts, Cerritos College’s SUR: Biennial, among others. In 2015, I was a Lucas Fellow at Montalvo Arts Center.
